I can't quite judge Blacula as a horror film, but I loved William Marshall in it because William Marshall was this really terrific Shakespearean Black actor every time he had appeared in almost anything else. Blacula gave him a really great role, his Othello best. The rest of the movie is fairly silly, but his performance has a lot of dignity and he looks magnificent in his outfits.
